Kuranda Dog Beds
Kuranda elevated dog beds are a great relief for dogs’ joints. The cot style design ensures their weight is evenly distributed, creating no hot spots or pressure points like lying on the ground. The air flow also keeps your German Shepherd Dog cool and comfortable. No more heavy panting all night in the summer! The best part!?! Kuranda offers chew proof, easy to clean bed options that fit inside the wire kennels Tannhäuser recommends for your dog.

COUCH BED
Orvis may be prejudiced towards Labradors but they make great dog beds. These beds are not inexpensive and the price goes up for better filling. That said, my customer still says they’d buy one again. They’ve had theirs for a decade now. It’s survived multiple pups (singly and simultaneously). It is entirely washable, the cover comes off even the interior bolsters could be washed. Heavy duty fabric comes in different colors so you can match your decor. Plus they now offer monogramming because what pup wouldn’t want that?
The beds also come in a variety of styles. My customer’s dogs love the raised sides to lay their heads on. This is their favorite.
Not recommended for pups still in the chewing stage. They view these beds as a giant stuffed toy and you’ll be finding bits and pieces when they figure out how to tear open a zipper.
Wire Kennels
Wire Dog Kennels
Purchasing a crate or wire kennel for your puppy is one of the best purchases you will make. Crate-training gives your dog a place of their own where they feel safe and secure. There are many wonderful, sturdy options out there but I wanted to point out one sturdy option out that saves money long term.
Purchasing an XL (the size recommended for an adult German Shepherd Dog) wire kennel with adjustable depth offers the ability to adjust the kennel size to your puppy’s growing needs. The best kennels have both side and end doors with top / bottom latches. This gives you maximum flexibility in placing the kennel as well as ease in cleaning and taking things in/out. When your pup gets big enough to use the full kennel, you can add a Kuranda dog bed inside!

GUNNER CRATES
Gunner makes one of the best crates around to keep your pup safe in a vehicle. It is NOT inexpensive. It is crash tested and also helps keep your dog cooler.

PETMATE CRATES
For less rugged needs, PetMate makes a solid crate. This dog crate meets most airline cargo specifications. It is made with heavy duty recycled plastic material and features an easy-open front latch to quickly access pets.
Cars & Camping
These are items that are wonderful when you take your dog along for a ride or with you camping.

TWISTEP
OK, more Labs but we’ll forgive Twistep because this product saves your dog’s joints and your back helping them into the car, especially if you drive a higher car like an SUV. It isn’t cheap, but it is rugged, easy to use, sized for an adult GSD and it tucks back out of the way when you’re not needing it.
The only reason it’s labeled for ‘older/adult’ is that puppies are easy to lift into a car.
My customer has used theirs for four years now on their Jeep Wrangler JL and said it’s truly a Jeep-worthy product. They did bash it a bit when they forgot to remove it before driving off road over rocks… but it actually survived with only a small crack some glue fixed.
