What in the Heck is Schutzhund?
Schutzhund (pronounced ‘shoots-hund’) is a German word meaning ‘protection dog’. It is a dog sport and a breed suitability test with three phases – tracking, obedience and protection work. It is designed to test a dog’s temperament, intelligence, workability, courage, desire to play, physical soundness, confidence and their bond to their handler.
